III. Alleged violation of Article 3 of the Convention
in respect of the applicants
79. The applicants submitted that the anguish and distress suffered by them as a result of the "disappearance" of their family member and the lack of an adequate response on behalf of the authorities amount to treatment in violation of Article 3 of the Convention, which reads as follows:
"No one shall be subjected to torture or to inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment."
